Studio Policies
Flute and Voice Studios of Melissa Mashner

Private Lesson Policies

My studio policies are intended to reflect a commitment on part of both teacher and student; that students take their lessons seriously with regular attendance, and that I reserve a weekly slot in my schedule for each student. Please let me know if you have questions.

Payment

Students receive an invoice for payment along with their upcoming lesson schedule. Monthly payment plans are available. Monthly payment is due on the first lesson of the month and includes payment for all lessons that month. Electronic payment options are available, and checks made out to Melissa Mashner.
If the student forgets to bring payment on the first lesson of the month, I will give them a one-week grace period. If no payment has been received by the end of the second lesson, a $5 late fee will be added to the bill for every week that it is late.

Attendance

If a student needs to cancel or reschedule a lesson, they must notify me at least 24 hours in advance of the lesson. In the case of these excused absences, I will work with the student to arrange a makeup lesson or issue a credit to your account.
If a student misses a lesson and I have not received any advanced notice, no refund will be given. Please note that I reserve the right to dismiss any student from studio due to habitual cancellations.
If I need to cancel for any reason, you will receive a refund in the form of a credit to your account towards the next month’s lessons.

Expectations

Students are expected to be well-prepared and on time to their lessons. Please note that tardiness is deducted from your lesson time!
Students should bring their instrument, a pencil, and any music we are studying to lessons. I often supply music and materials to my students from my personal collection – if you borrow a piece from my library, you are expected to return it in a timely fashion.
Also, I may ask students to purchase music books or other materials (tuner, metronome, etc.) that I feel are essential to their curriculum. It is the responsibility of the student and parent to make sure the flute is in good working condition and purchase any necessary supplies. I recommend ordering materials from Flute World: http://www.fluteworld.com/.
